The theoretical position of an aircraft or missile at a given moment, assuming it to have been unaffected in flight by wind. Also known as no-wind position.

Air positions for respective times.
The calculated position of an aircraft assuming no wind effect. It is indicated by the symbol “+” on the chart. The time of air position is indicated alongside +. The air position can be compared with the ground position to show the actual effect of the wind. This factor can be taken into account in further calculations. The air position is found by plotting on a chart the true courses and air miles flown. An air position indicator can also be used to show air position.
