i. A designated location in an area of operations used as a base for supply and evacuation by air.
ii. A designated area in a hostile or threatened territory that is normally seized in the assault phase of airborne operations. It permits continuous air landing of troops and materiel and provides the maneuver space necessary for projected operations.
