antistatic agent

[¦an·tē¦stad·ik ′ā·jənt]
(materials)
A material used with textiles, plastics, paper products, or wax polishes to reduce static-electrical charges by allowing the charge to leak off. Also known as antistat.

[USPRwire, Mon Jul 15 2019] Antistatic Agent Market Overview Antistatic agents are used on material surfaces to prevent the build-up of static electrical charge due to the transfer of electrons.
The additive may be a colorant, opacifier, fiavorant, perfume, anti-microbial, fungicide, antioxidant, protein, enzyme, antiblocking agent, antistatic agent, antifog agent, slip agent, light stabilizer, light absorber, process aid, release agent, a reactive indicator compound, or taggant.
The compound comprises a material that is a desiccant adapted to absorb moisture from textiles during the drying cycle; an antistatic agent; and a material that, after absorbing moisture from the textiles during the drying cycle, solubilizes and evaporates from the water-insoluble, moisture-permeable, enclosed container upon application of heat to the container during the drying cycle The water-insoluble, moisture-permeable, enclosed container contains a sufficient amount of the compound such that the dryer product can be used for more than one drying cycle while still imparting antistatic properties to the textiles being dried so that static electricity produced during each of the more than one drying cycle is no more than 10 kilovolts.

To solve those problems, a low-molecular-weight antistatic agent composed mainly of surfactant was often incorporated into the polymer at the molding process or applied to the surface of the molded part ina finishing process in order to control the surface resistivity of the molded part to [[10.sup.13] - [10.sup.18]] [[OMEGA]/sq.] However, the antistatic effect of surfactants is brought about by the equilibrium moisture adsorbed on the surfactant; therefore, sufficient antistatic effect is not achieved under the low humidity.
It includes a non-phosphite antioxidant, an acid scavenger, an antistatic agent, and a nucleating agent.
The filaments consist of crystalline polypropylene homopolymer that has a melting point of about 168[degrees]C or a crystalline polypropylene homopolymer with at least one additive that is a pigment, process aid, flame retardant, heat stabilizer, light stabilizer, antimicrobial agent, electrically conductive material, antistatic agent or stain resisting agent.
