An antenna that concentrates its radiation into a narrow beam in a definite direction.

A directional antenna that transmits its signals along a very narrow path. These antennae are advantageous both for transmitting and receiving. The forward gain enhances the range, and a good front-to-back ratio and narrow bandwidth aid in preventing interference to and from stations in the directions other than the desired stations.
