This failure mode resulted in delamination and separation of the attached retrofitting single plate from the beam bottom flange on one side due to the successive bolt rupture.

Figure 8 shows the horizontal stress of a series of nodes on the mid-span section under different displacements (0.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 4.0 mm, 8.0 mm, 13 mm, 17 mm, 25 mm, and 40 mm), in which dt represents the distance from the nodes to the beam bottom.
Type-1 was externally reinforced with Carbon Fibers Reinforced Polymer (CRFP) glued by epoxy to the beam bottom surface, while both Types-2 and 3 were internally reinforced with the same materials, as shown in Fig 1.
The strength degradation coefficients of most of the specimens were larger than 0.85 when the peak load was reached, indicating that no obvious strength degradation occurred in the elastic and elastic-plastic stages; however, marked strength degradation occurred in the damage stage, as the weld of the beam bottom flange or the cover plate connected to the column wall was fractured at the failure displacement.
Hence, beams were strengthened in flexure, by providing additional flexural reinforcement, and it was also made sure that the beam design remains underreinforced, even after the provision of extra flexural reinforcement in the form of one main baratthe beam bottom. All thebeams in groups Band C were utilized for evaluating the effect of shear strengthening provided by woven sisal fiber reinforced polymer composite, and beams in group A, which was not strengthened, were used for comparative shear strength study purpose.
thick spacer (Photo 6) as a guide to create a consistent overhang or "reveal" where the 1x3s extend below the 1x4 oak beam bottoms. Don't worry about any unevenness up near the ceiling; the cove molding will cover that.
