bleed valve

A valve designed to relieve the back pressure in a compressor, which helps to reduce the angle of attack of the rotor blades and prevent compressor stall and compressor surge. A bleed valve permits higher mass airflow through the compressor and reduces the mass flow through the combustion chambers and turbine. This minimizes the tendency to stall or surge. Also known as an air-release valve, a bleed valve, and a pop-off valve.

However, for the axial compressors which the surge could initiate at final stages, an inter-stage bleed valve (IBV) fast opening could be problematic, since this action can significantly reduce the gas flow at the final stages.
Re-tighten the bleed valve and wipe away excess grease.
Fit the bleed key into the bleed valve and carefully turn it anti-clockwise only a little, usually just a quarter or half turn.
The bleed valve is usually at the top of the radiator and the shape of the hole will determine what you use to bleed it.
To loosen track tension, slowly open the bleed valve on the track adjuster to let grease out.
Turn the key anticlockwise in the bleed valve at the top of the radiator and you'll hear a hissing sound, which is the sound of the air releasing.
"This used to mean unscrewing a bleed valve with a square headed key.
A faulty bleed valve meant the flight had to be abandoned.
To solve the problem, cover the floor under the bleed valve (usually at the side of the radiator) with newspaper or a dustsheet, insert a radiator key or small screwdriver and carefully turn it until you hear air escaping.
The Argus Pig Valve is described as a true double block and bleed valve that also allows pigs to be easily inserted or removed.
All radiators are provided with a bleed valve in one corner to allow trapped air to be released.
Argus Pig Valves provide a double block & bleed valve that can send or receive pigs.
