blockchain sharding

blockchain sharding

Splitting a blockchain into sections (shards) in order to reduce latency and speed up transaction processing. In the original design of a blockchain, all nodes maintain copies of the data but function as a single computer. Shards may be random or based on category. See blockchain and database partitioning.
