These, first briefly described by Knopf (1914), included linarite, caledonite, anglesite, wulfenite, hemimorphite and cerussite.
Colorless, transparent, complex crystals (to 2.5 mm) of anglesite occur with brochantite, caledonite, chlorargyrite and linarite in cavities at the Reward mine.
Intense oxidation resulted in a remarkable assemblage of supergene lead and copper sulfates including fine specimens of linarite,
caledonite and leadhillite.
Matlockites, Suzannites, Leadhillites, Lanarkites,
Caledonites, Chromo-phosphates [chromian pyromorphite], Pyromorphites, Kampylites, Vanadinites, Wulfenites, and Linarites.
Bandy (1944) described crusts of
caledonite and linarite near Level 355 of the Salvadora shaft.
Caledonite [Pb.sub.5][Cu.sub.2]([CO.sub.3])([SO.sub.4]).sub.3][(OH).sub.6]
Existing mineral nomenclature already displays a number of examples of unfortunately similar names that are easily confused; names such as celadonite and
caledonite, or mallardite and malladrite can easily be misspelled; names such as rhodesite, rhodizite and rhodusite are euphonically very similar.
Moreover, many interesting copper and lead alteration minerals, such as susannite,
caledonite, linarite, langite and shultenite (P.O., to be published) have been observed.
Veins of galena follow irregular fractures in the breccia, and minor amounts of copper sulfides associated with the galena are altered principally to linarite and
caledonite. The galena shows lesser alteration to anglesite.
Our apologies are extended to an unrecorded source who provided information on a new scrutinyite location: the Snake Pit mine, Hansonburg district, Socorro County, where scrutinyite occurs as elongated black crystals on quartz crystals with
caledonite, or as encrustations on galena.
Sedimentary response in the Baltic Devonian Basin to post-collisional events in the Scandinavian
Caledonites. GFF, 121, 7980.
Many good
caledonites are present, but none from Tiger.
