To successfully install the two-layer system you are planning to use, make sure the concrete walls are clean; apply daubs of polyurethane caulking compound
to the walls and push the rigid insulation onto the adhesive.
If you choose to use extruded polystyrene (XPS) rigid foam insulation (blue, pink, gray or green), it can be fastened to the brick with polyurethane caulking compound
or Styrobond as long as the wall surface is basically smooth -- i.e., no irregularities that would keep the insulation from being in contact with the entire wall.

Use caulking compound
to seal cracks in the sash or frame on the outside of the house, as it's resistant to drastic temperature changes.
Instead, use a silicone-rubber caulking compound
to fill the gaps.
One of the more interesting examples was the development of a silicone caulking compound
that finally solved the longstanding problem of rainwater leaking through the horizontal glass panes of the futuristic S.
The proposed standards include the 3% VOC limit for paint thinners and multipurpose solvents from the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) Consumer Product Rule, as well as CARB's most recent VOC standards for the specialty categories of (1) Chemically Curing Sealant or Caulking Compound
, and (2) Non-Chemically Curing Sealant or Caulking Compound
at the following VOC levels, respectively: 3% and 1.5%.
It should not adhere to any material in the bottom of the crack in order to allow the caulking compound
to stretch and compress without interference.
Apply walnut-sized dabs of polyurethane caulking compound
or Styrobond every foot or so to the concrete walls and adhere 2-inch thick XPS rigid insulation panels of whatever size you can get into the crawl space to the walls by pushing hard on them.
