The proportion of sky obscured by clouds, expressed as a fraction of sky covered. The amount may be indicated in octas (sometimes spelled as oktas) or decas (the total sky divided into 8 or 10 parts, respectively). Generally, the cloud amount is indicated by expressions such as few, scattered, and overcast. Also referred to as cloud cover.
