(pathology)
A retrogressive change in the cytoplasm of parenchymatous cells, whereby the cell enlarges and its outline becomes irregular, with resultant swelling of the organ.

CONCLUSION: In the histological study, the early changes in the kidneys of rabbits were minimal dilatation of convoluted and collecting tubules, hemorrhages inside the glomeruli, interstitial cellular crowding, cloudy swellings, hypertrophy and/or atrophy of glomeruli and increase in Bowman's space.
