content addressed storage
A storage technique from EMC for content that is in its final form (fixed content). CAS assigns an identifier to the files so they can be accessed no matter where they are located. EMC's Centera networked storage systems are designed for CAS, and storage applications use the CAS programming interface (API) to store and locate CAS-based files.
