Although elevation mapping technology now allows production of DEMs directly from measured points, accurate interpolation from contours is still important in areas where high-resolution DEMs are not available (Taud et al., 1999; Werbrouck et al., 2011) or in cases where historical contour maps are used to evaluate topographic change (Carley et al., 2012).
For the third problem, some gaps will be automatically connected after special runs are added into the contour map layer, and the remainder may be repaired by using the abovementioned methods.
Therefore contour map is nearly a horizontal line as shown in the region A.

When the total number of countries marked in the contour map was compared, two-way ANOVA indicated that in 2000 children marked more countries correctly (M = 12.87, SD = 6.38) than in 2012 (M = 9.20, SD = 5.41, F(1,94) = 8.86, p = .004, [[eta].sup.2] = .086).
To prepare contour maps of groundwater level, hydraulic head of different points has been calculated (hydraulic head = surface elevation--depth to groundwater).
The noise contour map is constructed by repeating the above steps for all nodes, and by connecting points having equal sound level.
