Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has picked GE for a project that marks Saudi Arabia's first integration of a solar field with a combined cycle plant
and the first introduction of condensate as a gas turbine fuel.

The existing plant includes 640 MW steam turbine units consisting of two 110 MW units and two 210 MW units, 600 MW combined cycle plant

, making a total plant capacity of 1,655 MW.
Saudi Electricity said on Sunday it signed the deal with an unnamed Saudi company to build 1,200 megawatt (MW) of power generation capacity at the PP10 combined cycle plant
power plant, which currently has a generation capacity of 2,240 MW.
The new plant is an expansion for the Guddu site, which already includes steam plants that have been in service for more than 40 years and a combined cycle plant
that has been operating with GE technology since the mid-1980s.
Siemens said more than 750 Siemens employees, including 250 engineers, were involved in development of the new gas turbine and the new combined cycle plant
The consortium will increase the capacity of the Muara Karang gas and steam powered electric plant in North Jakarta from 400 megawatts to 750 megawatts The Mitsubishi consortium defeated its rival consortium of Mitsui & Corp and Siemens AG to finish construction of the combined cycle plant
in 30 months.
SUEZ also announced construction of a second 174-MW unit to its Chilca gas-fired open cycle plant
The facility provides higher energy efficiency than non-combined cycle plants
, meaning that a combined cycle plant
can cut fuel consumption and emit less carbon dioxide, it added.
Following the signature of the contract with Alstom for the supply of two gas turbines, it will soon be converted into a combined cycle plant
These will include a 1,200 MW combined cycle plant
at Hadjret Ennous near Tipasa, which Sonelgaz has scheduled for completion in 2003/4; a 600+600 MW combined cycle plant
at Koudiat Draouch, near Annaba, to be on stream in 2003/4; and a 600+600 MW combined cycle plant
at Terga, near Oran Tipasa, to be ready by 2005/6.
