Debouchment

a term signifying the emergence of troops from a defile (a ravine, mountain pass, etc.) or from some kind of area affording concealment (a forest, village, etc.) into a more open area, where it is possible to deploy to engage in battle. The Soviet armed forces do not use the term “debouchment.”
