The difference in pressure between two points of a system, such as between the well bottom and wellhead or between the two sides of an orifice.

differential pressure

The pressure difference between two systems or volumes. Normally, it refers to cabin pressurization, and the gauge shows the differential pressure in addition to the cabin altitude. Once the differential pressure exceeds a specified figure, the spill valve opens and brings the differential pressure within limits.
