digitize

Digitize means to convert an image or signal into digital code by scanning, tracing on a graphics tablet or using an analog to digital conversion device. Physical objects can be digitized into a 3D digital image by a device with a mechanical arm that is moved into and out of all the corners. See digitizer tablet.
