DMF

(1) (DivX Media Format) A DivX format for encoding movies that uses the DivX codec. See DivX.

(2) (Distribution Media Format) A floppy disk format from Microsoft that was used to distribute its software. DMF floppies compressed more data (1.7MB) onto the 3.5" diskette, and the files could not be copied with normal DOS and Windows commands. A DMF utility had to be used.

The most common adverse events (AEs) reported in the study for both treatment groups were flushing, diarrhea and nausea (32.8%, 15.4% and 14.6% for diroximel fumarate; 40.6%, 22.3% and 20.7% for dimethyl fumarate).
Diroximel fumarate was statistically superior to dimethyl fumarate on the study's pre-specified primary endpoint, with patients treated with diroximel fumarate self-reporting significantly fewer days of key gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms with intensity scores 2 on the Individual Gastrointestinal Symptom and Impact Scale (IGISIS), as compared to dimethyl fumarate (p=0.0003).
Alternatively, a patient receiving a first-line oral DMT with limited safety data (e.g., teriflunomide or dimethyl fumarate) may be switched to a DMT with more safety data available relating to pregnancy, for example, an interferon or glatiramer acetate.
Loewe et al., "Efficacy and safety of LAS41008 (dimethyl fumarate) in adults with moderate-to-severe chronic plaque psoriasis: a randomized, double-blind, Fumaderm[R]- and placebo-controlled trial (BRIDGE)," British Journal of Dermatology, 2016.
First introduced in the 1950s because it was thought that psoriasis was caused by a biochemical defect of the citric acid (Krebs) cycle, evidence suggests that it has nothing to do with the Krebs cycle, and the major active compound appears to be dimethyl fumarate. The running hypothesis is that dimethyl fumarate works by correcting the immunologic imbalance in psoriasis (shifting from a Th1/TH17 pattern of immune response to a Th2 one).
-- Delayed-release dimethyl fumarate (DMF) coadministered with norgestimate / ethinyl estradiol, a commonly used progesterone-estrogen combination oral contraceptive, did not alter the OC's pharmacokinetics or pharmacodynamics, according to the results of a small study.
Among immunomodulators of note are Fingolimod which prevents infiltration of auto-destructive lymphocytes into the CSF, Teriflunomide which reduces lymphocyte infiltration of the CNS, axonal loss and inflammatory demyelination, and dimethyl fumarate, which modulates the immune system by many mechanisms.
It was found that the sofas were packed with sachets of the anti-mould chemical dimethyl fumarate which were used by some manufacturers to protect leather goods from going mouldy while stored in humid conditions.
Therapies with different mechanisms of action that have been approved by the FDA include mitoxantrone (Novantrone, EMD Serono, 2012), natalizumab (Tysabri, Biogen Idec, 2011), dimethyl fumarate (Tecfidera, Biogen Idec, 2013), fingolimod (Gilenya, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, 2011), and teriflunomide (Aubagio, Genzyme Corp., 2012).
Patients at the city's Royal Victoria Infirmary were offered dimethyl fumarate tablets, under the brand name Tecfidera, in an attempt to slow the progress of the debilitating disease and prevent flare ups.
She first heard about dimethyl fumarate at an outpatient appointment at the RVI, where her consultant mentioned that the treatment was being tested.
Medications approved included alogliptin (Nesina) and canagliflozin (Invokana) for diabetes, simeprevir (Olysio) and sofosbuvir (Soyaldi) for chronic hepatitis C infection, vor-tioxetine (Brintellix) for major depressive disorder, and dimethyl fumarate (Tecfidera) for relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis.
