direct-image offset system[də¦rekt ¦im·ij ′ȯf‚set ‚sis·təm]
A system for converting letterpress color plates to offset that involves pulling a proof of the letterpress form directly onto a special paper-backed aluminum foil plate, which then receives a slight treatment. Also known as d-i offset system.
