"Results from a
drill-stem test on well 41 are still pending (initial results are not encouraging), while well 40 failed to flow at commercial rates.
A
drill-stem test of the Nullara Limestone produced 35.7degree API (American Petroleum Institute) oil at a rate of 144 kL/d (905 bbl/d) through a 12.7 mm (1/2") choke.
The company has taken this step because of potential future oil production at the well, following a
drill-stem test, which achieved a potentially commercial stabilised flow rate of 447 barrels of oil per day, of 34 deg API oil from the Triassic aged Butmah Formation reservoir.
The objective of this test was to obtain reservoir and production information additional to that obtained from the open-hole
drill-stem test (DST) carried out in November 2008.A 13.5 metre interval at the top of the reservoir was perforated and flow tested at an average rate of approximately 1460 barrels of oil per day ("bopd") on a 48/64" choke over a four hour test period, and 570 bopd on 32/64" choke over a twelve hour test period.
Additional information will be released after completion of the
drill-stem test.
The company's production officer, Reinaldo Belotti, said 'With all necessary equipment already procured from renowned suppliers, the drilling of the first production well and related
drill-stem test both completed, we are on track and poised to reach a very important milestone for OGX with the initiation of production in the third quarter of 2011.'
The 22/14b-9z well has flowed rate of 2,707 barrels of oil per day through a 56/64' choke during a
drill-stem test.
A
drill-stem test has returned a stabilized gross flow rate of 2,324 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) through a 35/64 inch choke with a watercut of 0.5%.
The discovery well encountered a significant oil column which is
drill-stem tested and flowed at an average restricted rate of 5,500bopd through a 56/64 inch choke.
