du Simitière, Pierre (Eugène)

(1736–84) painter; born in Geneva, Switzerland. He came to America (1765) and became the curator of the American Philosophical Society, Philadelphia (1776–81). Remembered as a collector of historical objects, he also painted George Washington (1779).
