In an aircraft or spacecraft, a detachable compartment (serving as a cockpit or cabin) or a payload capsule which may be ejected as a unit and parachuted to the ground.

ejection capsule
A detachable compartment in an aircraft serving as a cockpit or cabin, which may be ejected as a unit and parachuted to the ground. Ejection capsules are not very common but are meant for use in aircraft that operate at very high speeds and/or altitudes.
