A metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) that is immersed in a solution to determine the concentrations of dissolved redox active species; the bulk part of the work function of the gate electrode of the transistor changes when the sensor membrane is oxidized or reduced. Abbreviated EMOSFET.
