The tensile failure of the CFRP plates indicates that the excellent mechanical performance of the CFRP plates in tension is fully exploited due to overcoming the premature strip debonding from the end anchorage system in spite of a small amount of vertical cracks appeared at the anchorage zone on the bottom side, as shown in Figure 14(c).
Against this background, this paper presents a novel durable intelligent CFRP plate strain monitoring assembly with end anchorages using FBG sensors, and the associated experimental study on the posttensioned CFRP strengthening of RC beams was carried out.
This research limits itself to the study of plain anchor bolts having an end anchorage hook in the shape of L embedded in reinforced concrete, as shown in Fig 2.
Therefore, the main objective of this study was to examine the effectiveness of different CFRP sheet arrangements and end anchorages for improving the performance of aged and seriously damaged RC beams.
