In the most continental regions of the boreal forests, in addition to these northern and central southern complexes, there is another associated with larchwoods; there the moss layer consists almost entirely of Rhytidium rugosum, epiphytic mosses are almost completely absent, and the epixylous (growing on wood) moss flora is also very poor and similar to that of the northern taiga.
