The most important flavanones are hesperidin, naringen and eriodictyol. The major flavanone glycosides in orange (Citrus sinensis) are narirutin, a derivative of hesperidin and naringenin (6).
The major bioflavonoids found in citrus fruits are diosmin, diosmetin, hesperidin, hesperetin, naringin, naringenin, narirutin, neohesperidin, nobiletin, tangeretin, eriodictyol, and eriocitrin.
[16] reported that the most prevalent dietary flavanone aglycones are naringenin, hesperetin, isosakuranetin, and eriodictyol. The same authors demonstrate that a citrus fruit is also a primary source of narirutin, eriocitrin, didymin, neohesperidin, naringin, hesperidin, neoeriocitrin, and poncirin.
In our pilot study, eight flavonoids were detected in plasma after oral administration of Drynariae rhizoma extract (DRE), including neoeriocitrin, luteolin-7-O-[beta]-D-glucoside, astragalin, naringin, eriodictyol, luteolin, naringenin, and kaempferol (Figure 1), which could contribute to the therapeutic effect of the DRE.
