filterability

[‚fil·trə′bil·əd·ē]
(engineering)
The adaptability of a liquid-solid system to filtration; system is not filterable if it is too viscous to be forced through a filter medium, or if the solids are too small to be stopped by the filter medium.

In spite of that, there is disagreement in the literature about the effect of MLSS on the filterability of membrane bioreactors (LOUSADA-FERREIRA et al., 2010), including studies that demonstrate the existence of a direct relation between MLSS and the TMP (KATAYON et al., 2004; MENG et al., 2006) and other studies in which no major evidence of such parameters were found (ROSEMBERGER; KRAUME, 2002; LOBOS et al., 2008).
RJA Dispersions' new FX dispersions provide ultra stability and filterability. Their 100-150 rim mean size, with D99 typically under 300 nm, provides the rheological consistency required for long-running maintenance-free operation.

The company's nonwovens composed of ultrafine fiber realize well filterability and texture and are used in a wide range of application areas, including liquid filters, air filters, battery separators, capacitor separators, coalescers, medical products, HVAC, HEPA, cabin air filters, acoustics, water purifiers, coffee filters and household products.
A full suspension sample size (15 mL) is not tested due to the presence of cellulose which interferes with filterability. Only one mL is tested in the 900 mL vessels.
