Command-wire Improvised Explosive Devices (CWIED) uses an electrical firing cable
that affords the user complete control over the device right up until the moment of initiation.
Working in conjunction with mine operators (including Mt Isa Mines and WMC's Olympic Dam Mine), the company has developed a unique remote blasting system that does not depend on the large networks of firing cable
normally associated with remote blasting systems.
The Orion rocket that was launched, for example, had had its "igniters' installed and its firing cables
connected, though they were deliberately short-circuited and grounded at the launch-control cubicle as a standard safety precaution.
