flip phoneA hinged cellphone that is very compact when closed. Also called a "clamshell phone," the flip phone is a basic cellphone without Internet access. More compact when closed, the cover "flips open" to reveal the screen, keypad, speaker and microphone. See feature phone.
Flip Phones Are Back With a Flair
