Form Genus

the generic name of disconnected parts of fossil plants whose in-vivo connection is usually unknown. The term “form genus” may also be used when it is difficult to ascertain from preserved plant parts the taxonomic position of the original plant. Unlike organ genera, parts of plants that have only an external resemblance to one another, regardless of their kinship, may be classified in the same form genus.
