fundamental plane

The tight correlation between properties of elliptical galaxies such as their total luminosity, surface brightness and velocity dispersion, and the relation between the luminosity and rotational velocity for spiral disks. Such relations are a natural consequence for self-gravitating systems with approximately constant mass-to-light ratio. See also Faber–Jackson relation; Tully–Fisher method.

On an even more fundamental plane, he noted that it was "tough learning Hindi," as his "mother tongue" is Tamil.
This relationship, called the fundamental plane of black hole activity, fits the data on black holes with masses ranging from 10 solar masses to a billion solar masses.
The dissenting justice noted that even on a fundamental plane, two additional observations be made.
2] is the radius of the umbra (which term applies to both total and annular eclipses) at a height Z above the fundamental plane, and n is the speed of the shadow (my emphasis), both reckoned in units of the Earth's equatorial radius.
The fundamental plane is not only ecliptic but more often the plane of the equator of the central body.
In the following considerations we established that the origin of the coordinate system is identical to the focus of the elliptical orbit of the studied body; the fundamental plane x, y is identical to the equatorial plane of the central body (for example the Earth in the case of artificial satellites) and the fundamental direction is the direction to the vernal point.
Conaway has focused on Kmart's weaknesses in supply chain management and store-level execution, not only on organizational and procedural levels, but on a more fundamental plane as well, attempting to transform the company's core culture.
Meanwhile, a more fundamental plane of discussion, the contemporary phase of which has been introduced by neo-Ricardian thinkers like Ian Steedman, has tended, Itoh tells us, "to inquire more and more basically into the soundness, consistency and relevancy of Marx's labour theory of value itself.
This so-called fundamental plane contains an x-y rectangular coordinate system with its origin at Earth's centre, with the z-axis parallel to the Moon's shadow and directed positively towards the Moon and Sun.
The centre of the lunar umbra in the fundamental plane has the coordinates (x,y) in units of the equatorial radius of the Earth.
In this x-y-z system of axes, the position of the terrestrial observer is projected onto the fundamental plane and this position is characterised by the coordinates [xi], [eta], [zeta]in the direction of x, y and z respectively.
