## Gaussian distribution

A random distribution of events that is graphed as the famous "bell-shaped curve." It is used to represent a normal or statistically probable outcome and shows most samples falling closer to the mean value. See Gaussian noise and Gaussian blur.

In the DPFF, the posterior distribution is approximated by a particle set [mathematical expression not reproducible] which is sampled from Gaussian distribution N(*, [bar.[mu]](k - 1), [bar.P](k - 1)) with same weights [w.sup.i.sub.k-1] = 1/[N.sub.p] .
