MgTiO3 A bluish-black or brownish-black mineral that crystallizes in the rhombohedral system and occurs in the form of rolled pebbles; it is isomorphous with ilmenite.

The content of geikielite component (MgTi[O.sub.3]) is negligible and hematite component is missing.
They are typically found in marble ejecta, sometimes in association with geikielite. The crystal shown is twinned by rotation about the three-fold [111] axis and is called (aptly) a "spinel twin."
