genlock(GENerator LOCKing) Synchronizing multiple video signals from cameras, video recorders and external sources. Genlock emits a signal for each frame, and professional video equipment has a dedicated sync port for this function. A frame's timecode is also used for synchronization; however, the clocks in each device may not be 100% precise, and recordings can drift.
