Honeywell's
Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) and Vibration Expert (VXP) have been issued certifications for multiple helicopters by the FAA, EASA and the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) of Brazil, which will allow maintainers to have onboard, sensor-based monitoring systems to measure the health and performance of helicopter components.
The deal will allow Smith Industries to expand its key aerospace activities, the
health and usage monitoring systems (HUMS) which continuously check the performance of safety-critical components in helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.
Through the program, operators exchange safety event information and have begun to share data, including from anonymized flight data monitoring and their
health and usage monitoring systems.
