A communications system used to control lights, heating, cooling, security cameras and other devices in a home or office. The network connection uses existing electric lines or operates wireless. The network may be manually operated, run on a timer or be controlled from an app in a smartphone or tablet. See smart home, X10, Insteon, ZigBee, Z-Wave, UPB, Home Plug & Play, CEBus and domotics.
