(1) To move the mouse pointer over an object and hold it there. Pronounced "huh-ver." See mouse over.

(2) (Hover!) A video game from Microsoft that came with Windows 95. Hover! has been available for subsequent versions of Windows.

hover

A flight by a helicopter in which no movement relative to the ground takes place. The helicopter may in fact have some velocity to counter the effect of the wind.
