The peaks of the piston are given by the intersection between a mobile circle, of c radius with the center at the point M and the hypocycloid of the carcass.
For the achievement of the permanent contact between the peaks of the piston and the inner surface of the carcass, the paths of the peaks must be hypocycloids which are identical with the inner profile of the carcass.
In conclusion, by composing of two movements of plane rotation (in the same plane), a generating point M of a circular rolling curve described as a cinematic trajectory C a hypocycloid with the condition to respect the [R.sub.CCIN] given by the relationship (6) that impose to the two movements the cinematic coordination of the rolling without sliding of the rolling curve inside the circular base.
The aspects related to the hypocycloid curves are wide presented in literature such as Mathematics at a glance (1980) and can be summarized as:
Epicycloids--curves generated by a point on the circumference of a circle (the epicycle)--or hypocycloids (Figure 1)--curves that roll on the inside of the circle--are examples of adding prefixes and suffixes.
The team had to petition AISI to change the word "Steel" inside the Steelmark to "Steelers." The logo includes three four-pointed figures, called hypocycloids, within a circle, and colored to promote the attributes of steel.
