    IN

(Intelligent Network) The public switched telephone network architecture of the 1990s, which was developed by Bellcore and the ITU. Bellcore later became iconectiv, an American subsidiary of Ericsson. The Intelligent Network was created to provide a variety of advanced telephony services such as 800 number translation, local number portability (LNP), call forwarding, call screening and wireless integration. While Bellcore named its version AIN (Advanced Intelligent Network) for use in North America, there are a variety of proprietary versions throughout the world based on the ITU standard.

The IN uses the SS7 signaling protocol in which voice calls (or modem data) travel through circuit-switched voice switches, while control signals travel over an SS7 packet-switched network. See SS7 and converged network.

Granted, delegates at last month's Conservative policy convention overwhelmingly adopted a resolution affirming: "A Conservative government will support legislation defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman." But this promise is only a sham inasmuch as party leader Stephen Harper has pledged that, as prime minister, he will bring forward legislation providing the same rights, benefits, and obligations to all couples--married, common-law, and same-sex alike.

About a year ago, it was reported that Swiss-based scientists had succeeded in creating antimatter, the mirror image of matter--purportedly an important break-through inasmuch as this could explain, or at least tell us more about, the big bang.
Thus, in chronicling Miller's three marriages, thirteen children, forty-one godchildren from every social sector, and many other proteges, Safley shows that Miller modifies some current theories of early modern patriarchy inasmuch as exemplarity, not authority, informed his self-understanding.
