1. Industry 1.0 (1700s) - mechanical operations via the steam engine along with developments in chemistry and metallurgy.

2. Industry 2.0 (1800s) - electrical machines and first assembly lines.

3. Industry 3.0 (1900s) - computers and automation.

4. Industry 4.0 (2000s) - autonomous operations (see Internet of Things).
