information explosion/information overload
information explosion/information overloadarising from the centrality of information in INFORMATION SOCIETIES, the suggestion is that there now exists an overabundance of information that risks undermining communication, and drowns out some voices, especially in a world of media concentration and message manipulation. Against this there are those who argue that the information explosion and new media have, at least, the potential to democratize communications.
