The interface or transition zone occurring within the equatorial trough between the Northern and Southern hemispheres. Also known as equatorial front; tropical front.

Intertropical front.
A narrow elongated line of meteorological activity between the southern and northern tradewinds in the intertropical convergence zone. According to some meteorologists, it is not a true frontal surface.
