Feeds were begun using the
jejunostomy tube on the second day after surgery.
All the other tube insertions involved a smaller
jejunostomy tube. The LPN had not noticed that the original tubing was longer than the tube used at the facility.

Jejunostomy Tube Feeding in Nursing Facility Patients," American Journal of Gastroenterology 86 (1991):1610-13.
A feeding
jejunostomy tube was then inserted and enteral feeding initiated (Figure 2(b)).
The same process was followed for feeding tubes (naso-gastric tube, gastro
jejunostomy tube, gastrostomy tube,
jejunostomy tube, duodenal tube, enteral tube, duodenal tube, and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube).
In our patient, there was no leadpoint no feeding
jejunostomy tube; we found intra-operatively that the intussusception was 20 cm away from the gastrojejunostomy site.
* A gastrostomy or
jejunostomy tube should be considered instead if patients are likely to have prolonged need for a nasogastric tube.
Patients who receive their medications through a
jejunostomy tube would require the immediate activation of the drug so absorption would occur as normal in the alkaline environment of the intestines.
Oral fluids were started after clamping the feeding
jejunostomy tube on 7th post-operative day.
Most notably included in the recommended procedure for administering enteral nutrition through a nasogastric, gastrostomy, or
jejunostomy tube is the verification of tube placement position by methods that include observing the color and pH of gastric aspirate before each feeding or administration of a medication (Craven & Hirnle, 2009; Perry & Potter, 2010; Wilkinson & Treas, 2011).
He had a
jejunostomy tube for tube feedings and was discharged home on postoperative day 11.
