Oursinite is associated with a whole series of other secondary uranium minerals such as curite, becquerelite and kasolite. One characteristic of the association that might serve as a guide in the detection of oursinite is the frequent black pigmentation caused by hydroxides of cobalt in the accompanying minerals mentioned above.
