B, Koilocytes containing enlarged, irregular, and hyperchromatic nuclei, perinuclear halos, and coarse
keratohyalin granules are found in the granular and upper spinous layers.
FLG is produced in the SG as profilaggrin (FLG polymer) and is stored in
keratohyalin granules.
Profilaggrin is a prominent component of the
keratohyalin granule in human epidermis.
All 3 cases showed indications of moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, including basal cell proliferation, intermediate prickle cell hyperplasia with
keratohyalin granules, and variable areas of keratin formation.
Histopathological studies showed inhibition in cellular infiltration and reduction of synovial hyperplasia and synovitis, whereas in the second test, histopathological and ultrastructural studies showed that topical application of FAM induced orthokeratosis with the presence of
keratohyalin granules in the previously parakeratotic adult mouse tail, and without effects on epidermal thickness.
Profilaggrin is a product of the
keratohyalin granules.
Histopathologically, infected epithelial cells showed prominent ballooning degeneration and dense, eosinophilic, cytoplasmic granules that were difficult to distinguish from
keratohyalin bodies.
