lateral shear interferometer[′lad·ə·rəl ¦shir ‚in·ter·fə′räm·əd·ər]
An interferometer in which a wavefront is interfered with a shifted version of itself, resulting in fringes along which the slope or derivative of the wavefront is constant. Also known as differential interferometer.
