The brain dysfunction models were established by injecting LPS into the lateral ventricle, by which the escape latency and the searching distance were significantly increased as compared with the control group at day 10.
Payr, also in 1908, introduced shunting of CSF from the ventricle into the sagittal sinus and jugular veins using vein grafts (14); and in the same year, Kausch used a rubber conduit to drain the lateral ventricle into the peritoneal cavity.
The volume of the lateral ventricles increased by a mean of 6.7% per year during treatment with IVIG (all doses combined), which was significantly lower than the 12.3% annual rate of increase observed in six placebo treated patients.

A post-op CT scan demonstrated encephalomalacia in the right posterior parietal region, dilation of the third and lateral ventricles, and calcification in the right subdural region (Figure 7).
From the lateral ventricles CSF travels through the Foramen of Monro to the third ventricle, then through the Aqueduct of Sylvia to the fourth ventricle.
Lastly, the fronto-basal white matter is divided through the anterior part of the lateral ventricle (8).
