long-range order

[′lȯŋ ‚rānj ′ȯr·dər]
(solid-state physics)

Summary: Mesoporous materials are widely used as catalysts, adsorbents and supports due to their advantages such as narrow pore size distribution, large surface area and long-range order. In the present study, MCM-48 mesoporous material was synthesized at room temperature by using cetyltrimethylammoniumbromide as a structure directing agent.
The long-range order of the pores was further analyzed by carrying out a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) of the top view SEM image from Figure 1(a).
Olsen [9,10] who showed that the orbital spacing of the planets of our solar system follows long-range order on a logarithmic scale, i.e., the logarithmic positions of the planets are correlated and follow a periodic pattern (a kind of "quantization") [9].
Materials scientists and chemists examine some key methods used to investigate the structure of inorganic materials at various scales from the local atomic order through crystalline and long-range order to the mesoscopic, and the macroscopic.
The representative peak of graphite C (002) is sharp and smooth, which represents the high degree of long-range order of the carbon products.
Being heated above glass transition temperature ([T.sub.g]), amorphous chains can rearrange into crystals with long-range order due to enhanced molecular mobility (5-8).
In bulk however, many pi-conjugated materials lack long-range order, leading to inefficient transport of electrons between molecules.
GST is called a phase-change material because, when exposed to heat, areas of GST can change from an amorphous state, in which the atoms lack an ordered arrangement, to a crystalline state, in which the atoms are neatly lined up in a long-range order. In its amorphous state, GST is more resistant to electric current.
But this shows very clearly that you don't have long-range order in water."
French plane-maker Dassault has lost a long-range order for 65 Falcon business jets after NetJets, a major customer, reported a $711 million loss.
Other topics include the statistical thermodynamics and kinetics of long-range order in metal-doped graphene, structural stability and phase transitions in f-electron based systems, and the investigation of phase transformation in thin film using the finite element method.
