lookup shoot-up

lookup shoot-up

The ability of an aircraft to acquire high-flying hostile aircraft and destroy them with air-to-air missiles while flying at low altitudes. The vertical separation between the target and the interceptor is generally more than in the case of a lookdown shoot-down capability. This differential can be of the order of 30,000 to 40,000 ft (9–12 km).
