No poisonous lookalikes. Use leaves at any stage. Related to spearmint, which is also edible. Pale violet flowers with purple stem (Spearmint has green stem) Peppermint leaf- relieves gas, indigestion, heartburn, acid reflux, stomach pain, ulcers, intestinal cramps, colic, nausea, irritable bowel syndrome and just about every digestive complaint known.
